Rules

3.Try to guess what word is in the blank.
4.Look for some clues in the article.
5.Use the clues to guess the meaning and the structure of the sentence.

Introduction
An inference is a kind of guess. To infer, you use what you already know about something to try to guess more about it. In everyday life, you often make inferences.
ACTIVITY ONE
How does she/he feel?
 
I came to China for the first time. I  traveled to Beijing, climbed to the Great Wall,walked down the Forbbiden city’s road. And then, I went to Anhui as an English teacher in AHU.
I meet a lot of new friends there.
My son got a full score in Mid-term paper.
But one week later, I found that he get this good grade bycopying his deskmates’ paper
I have to get up very early to send milk to every family in this community.
I did a lot but the salary is still too little.

What is “making inferences”
It is a kind of guess.
You use things you’ve already known and try to guess more.
  You often make inference in your daily life. 
(Ex. May only has twenty dollars. There are two kinds of   drink. One of them is fifteen dollars, and the other one is twenty dollars. So we guess she will buy the fifteen dollars one.)

Exercise   1

Hi, how are things going at the office lately?

Great! We are having a great year so far. Sales are up, and everybody is motivated. How are things going at your company?
